Selected National Library of the Year for 2002, Kalamazoo Public Library offers an extensive collection, excellent reference services, year-round programs for all ages, plus special services for the blind, and early childhood literacy program, local history room, and the county law library.

Dozens of public computers with high-speed access offer email, wealth of online resources, and the library's award-winning community information database, which includes an index to local publications, including the Kalamazoo Gazette.

The library's main building in downtown library boasts a unique architectural feature: a skylight surrounded by holographic material retracts rainbows throughout the building on sunny days. Each of the library's four neighborhood branch buildings also incorporate holographic materials in their designs.
