Police Officer - $19.75/hr - Requires high school diploma or equivalent, and Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certification or certifiable; bachelor's degree preferred. Position is responsible for general duties in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. School Crossing Guard - $7.40hr - The Department of Public Safety is considering candidates for the position of School Crossing Guard. Hours vary according to post, approximately 20 hours per week. Employees must be available for split shifts (morning and afternoon) on school days between September and mid-June.
Employees will work in inclement weather conditions; need a home phone and their own transportation. Must be able to hold up a sign and cross street intermittently for 45 minutes at a time. The selected employees must exercise good judgment in providing safe crossing for school children. Must also be reliable, prompt and consistent in their duties at their post.
Hiring is contingent upon passing a drug screen and criminal history background check. After hire, employees attend State required training at the City's expense.
