The Youth Development Center (YDC) is a community collaboration focused on helping youth reach their potential. This was established by Partners Building Community, supported by the Kalamazoo City Commission and City Manager, as a significant commitment to youth and a major component to community development. Helping youth reach their potential takes the involvement of the entire community. The City of Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation, in conjunction
with a host of other agencies, is collaborating on various youth development initiatives. This includes Kalamazoo Youth Development Network (KYDNet), Boys and Girls Club, Kalamazoo Public Schools, and many other KYDNet members.

Essential business functions or services of the Youth Development Center include the following: meeting space for youth and youth organizations; youth and staff training; a computer technology site for training both youth and adults; a resource center with information and equipment available for use by youth and adults; and special purpose and collaborative programming that includes
intergenerational youth programs, family activities, social/educational, and entrepreneurial programs.
