Division Commander: Captain Brian Uridge
Assistant Division Commander: Executive Lieutenant Tom Hemingway

The Operations Division is primarily responsible for response to calls for police and fire services, which includes initial criminal investigations, fire suppression activities, medical rescues, traffic control measures, and accident investigations. Additionally, Operations is responsible for specialized functions, such as Traffic Enforcement, Canine (K-9) Unit, Honor Guard, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, Community Public Safety Unit (CPSU), Bomb Squad, Field Training Officer Program, and Explorers Post.
POWER SHIFT
After analyzing calls for service over the past four years, Public Safety determined that 60% of all calls for service occurred between 3pm and 3am. In April 2006, KDPS implemented the Power Shift to increase personnel on the street during these peak hours. This allows Public Safety to provide the best customer service to the community.
