KMEA (Kalamazoo Municipal Employees Association) Benefits

MEDICAL INSURANCE: Effective first of the month after 30 days of service. Custom Community BLUE PPO Plan.

DENTAL INSURANCE: Effective first day of the month, after 30 days of service. Traditional plan.

LIFE INSURANCE: $30,000 term life

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Supplemental Retirement Savings Program. Mandatory employee contribution of 1% of pay. In addition, City will match 50% of employee voluntary contribution up to 1% of pay. May contribute 25% of salary, up to $17,000.

HOLIDAYS: Ten days per year.

LONGEVITY: Payable after six years of service, based on $30 per year, up to a $780 maximum.

PERSONAL DAYS: Up to two per year taken from sick bank (see contract for eligibility requirements).

RETIREMENT: Defined Benefit Plan. Vesting: Ten years; employees contribute 1% of pay (tax deferred).

SICK LEAVE: Accumulate eight hours for each month of continuous service.
