Cops Implementation

On July 27, 2009, the Associated Press announced that the City of Kalamazoo had been awarded approximately $2 million dollars to fund 10 officer positions.

Kalamazoo Public Safety will enhance community policing activities with the COPS grant funding to make systemic changes in its organizational community policing philosophy and has already begun a strategic planning process to proactively address crime and community issues before they develop into chronic problems by focusing upon intervention, prevention, community partnerships and support, community initiatives and intra-governmental cooperation and organizational transformation.
