Why Rideshare?

There are many obvious benefits associated with carpooling or ridesharing. Some of them include economic benefits and various environmental rewards like reduced air pollution or fuel consumption. There are even greater benefits to sharing a ride when it is coordinated through Community Ridesharing. Community Ridesharing has a computerized database that can pinpoint individuals nearby wishing to share a ride to a similar destination with just a few clicks of the keyboard.

Already in a carpool? Register it through Community Ridesharing to increase the benefits you are already experiencing. You could generate additional passengers who may be able to help share in the cost of driving.

Community Ridesharing also offers a van leasing program, MichiVan. You may be eligible to obtain a low-cost van lease to transport a larger group of passengers to/from similar locations.

Registering is simple. Contact Community Ridesharing at 342-RIDE or (877) 951-POOL. You will speak with a Special Projects Coordinator who will ask you a few questions about your location and your destination, the times you wish to travel, and preferences for travel companions such as gender or smoking habits. Or, you can print an application here.

The mission of Kalamazoo Metro Transit is to provide the community with public transportation services that are dependable, convenient, safe, cost effective, and accessible for all.

For more information about ridesharing, visit the Michigan Department of Transportation's Michigan Rideshare website.
