Submit a Claim Against the City of Kalamazoo

In some situations you can file a claim against the City of Kalamazoo for damage caused to your property by infrastructure or city staff. In some cases for the City to be liable our staff must have known about the issue and failed to fix it in a reasonable time or it must be due to negligence on the part of the City or one of its contractors.

Damaged Mailboxes

If your mailbox was damaged by a City of Kalamazoo plow, the City will replace it with a standard issued mailbox (and post if necessary). Someone from our team will inspect it within 48 hours and schedule the replacement or repair within 3-5 business days. You can report a damaged mailbox by calling 311 or (269) 337-8000.

If your mailbox was customized and you would like it replaced, please submit a claim as you would any other damage.
