Questions about water? Brief video provides water system & safety overview

City staff have prepared a brief informational video to answer some of the most common questions that have been asked regarding water quality and safety in Kalamazoo.

The four-minute video provides a broad overview of Kalamazoo’s water system and answers questions concerning its safety, what actions are taken to protect its customers, and how customers can have their water tested for free if they are concerned. The video also provides clarification on the reporting of lead levels as required by the EPA’s Lead and Copper Rule.

“With the events and reporting going on in our state and nationally, many of our customers have expressed concerns about safety,” said Shannan Deater, Environmental Programs Manager for the City of Kalamazoo. “We hope this video will alleviate some of those concerns and help direct our customers to the resources that are available, such as free testing for lead and copper.”
