Kzoo Parks to Host Winter Golf Classic at Woods Lake on January 29

Family event will offer a 9-hole course on the lake with proceeds benefitting First Tee of West Michigan

Kzoo Parks will host its first Winter Golf Classic at Woods Lake (2900 Oakland Dr) on Saturday, January 29 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This family friendly event will offer a 9-hole golf course on the lake with prizes. Coffee Rescue will have hot chocolate and other drinks available for purchase.

Registration is available online at www.kzooparks.org/wintergolf or in-person at the Kzoo Parks office (251 Mills St). Advance registration for a family/group of six or less is $10. Day-of registration will be available at the event for $20. Participants can bring their own golf clubs to use, or clubs will also be available at the event to borrow.

All proceeds from the event will benefit First Tee of West Michigan, a nonprofit, youth development organization that teaches life skills, values, and healthy habits to youth ages 7 to 17 through the game of golf. More information about First Tee of West Michigan is available on their website at https://firstteewestmichigan.org/

“We’re so excited to offer another new event for families to get outside and have fun this winter,” said Kya Mitchell, Special Events Coordinator for Kzoo Parks. “Bundle up and have fun trying something new at Woods Lake Park!”

The event will be weather dependent as it will require Woods Lake to be frozen to a safe depth. If conditions do not allow for the event to be held safely on January 29 it will be rescheduled. Updates will be posted to the Kzoo Parks website regarding the event status.

Attendees should remain cautious and follow CDC and local health official guidelines to protect themselves and the community from COVID-19.
