The Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon will be held on Sunday, May 4. Roads and intersections will close intermittently on Sunday morning when runners are actively crossing. Cars will be able to pass through where there are gaps in the runners, so roads are still passable, but expect delays.
Please note this is an MDOT project. Comments and questions about construction should be referrred to MDOT.
MDOT identified the West Main Street from 10th Street to Drake Road Project as a priority for the 2025 construction season. The scope of the project is to widen West Main Street to improve access to US-131.
As part of this project, approximately 1,500 feet of water main will be replaced and relocated to accommodate road improvements. MDOT, the City of Kalamazoo, and Oshtemo Township collaborated with utility providers to develop a comprehensive relocation plan that aligns with the needs of all stakeholders. This project exemplifies the "dig-once" asset management approach to minimize future disruptions and maximize efficiency.
Bidding was completed by MDOT and the City's portion of this project for utility work is $725,400.
