In October 2024, the City Commission approved the city's first comprehensive, city-wide economic development strategy in more than a decade. The strategy strongly emphasizes community wealth building and measures success based on a broader set of metrics that tell the story about the quality of jobs, the overall health of the community, and diversifying the economic base.
As decisions are made over the next five years based on this strategy, the City will maintain an approach to economic development where neighborhoods are not pitted against downtown or the city against the region. Each investment must tie back to a shared vision for the city, taking a unified approach to yield the greatest economic gains for the most people.
