Transfer Water & Sewer Service

Starting Monday, November 14, in-person utility billing service will move from City Hall to our Stockbridge Offices at 415 E Stockbridge Ave.

If you move or need to transfer water service into your name, you can apply online. Learn how to transfer water service for buildings that are already connected to city water. If you need to install new service to a building that is not already connected to the water system, please search for Install New Water Service.

To complete this form, you must be the Responsible Bill Payee, the Bill Payee’s Spouse or Legally Authorized Agent, or the Administrator of the Estate. You will also need a valid driver’s license or Michigan ID. A refundable security deposit may be required.

Water will not be turned on in the winter at properties that are not heated. The helps protect the water system and prevents damage to the property from frozen water pipes.

Step 3.Confirmation

When our staff contacts you, they let you know if a deposit is needed, explain how you can pay, and schedule an appointment for service to be turned on. Appointments are only needed if the service is disconnected before you are planning to take responsibility and the meter is located inside the house.

Step 4.Service Appointment

If necessary, someone from our Public Services department will visit the property at the scheduled date and time to turn on service, complete a meter reading, or perform any other required work. Appointments can be requested between 7:30 - 11:30 a.m. or 11 - 4 p.m. You can request a call 30 minutes ahead of time so know when we will be arriving.

Step 5.You're All Set!

The water service for this property will be turned on and the billing will be in your name. Utilities are billed quarterly and each bill includes instructions on how to pay. Make sure you pay on time to avoid additional fees.
