Diversity Equity and Inclusion

The Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is focused on embedding these goals throughout the functions of city government. This department reviews internal processes and policies with an equity lens in addition to evaluating public programs and projects. DEI also facilitiates education and training for staff and work closely with external partners to advance our community-wide goals to celebrate diversity, include everyone, and treat all people fairly. 

DEI staff act as liaisons with the City's Civil Rights Board. In this role, staff work closely with the City Attorney's Office to review discrimination complaints filed under local ordinances, or help residents refer their complaints to the appropriate authority for review and investigation.
