The Kalamazoo City Commission typically meets on the first and third Mondays of each month. The Commission meets as a Committee of the Whole at 5 p.m. and for its Regular Business Meeting at 7 p.m. There is not a set end time for City Commission or other meetings of boards and commissions. Meetings vary in length depending on each meeting's agenda items and discussion. City Commissioners must be City residents. 

City Commission meetings are livestreamed to the City of Kalamazoo's Facebook and YouTube channels and on Public Media Network's Government Channel.

Share Public Comment

The City Commission welcomes public input at its meetings. Public Comments are held near the beginning of each meeting.

Comment in Person 

People attending in person may speak during the Public Comments section of both Committee of the Whole and Business Meetings. During Business Meetings, people attending in person may also comment on individual action items, when applicable.

Speakers should state their name and whether they live in the City of Kalamazoo. Comments are limited to two minutes during Committee of the Whole meetings and three minutes during Business Meetings, unless additional time is granted by the chair or City Commission.

Beginning October 5, 2026, people may provide public comments by phone during City Commission Business Meetings. Call-in comments are accepted only during the Public Comments section of the agenda and are limited to three minutes per speaker.

To comment by phone, call 1 (888) 382-9556 during the Public Comments section. Please mute any nearby TV, computer, or livestream before speaking to prevent audio feedback.

Call-in speakers may comment during Public Comments only. They cannot comment separately on individual agenda items later in the meeting. Call-in comments are not accepted during Committee of the Whole meetings.

Unless otherwise noted, meetings are held in the City Commission Chambers at City Hall, 241 W South St.

The Planning Retreat scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026, will be held at the KRESA Career Connect Campus (3500 Vanrick Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49001)
