The Complete Streets Advisory Committee (CSAC) is a volunteer advisory body that supports the City of Kalamazoo’s Complete Streets Policy(PDF, 85KB) and Street Design Manual(PDF, 27MB).

Complete Streets is the City’s commitment to designing roads and public rights-of-way so they safely and equitably serve all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, motorists, emergency responders, freight operators, older adults, children, and people with disabilities.

In a built-out city like Kalamazoo, where expansion is limited, how we design and improve our existing streets directly affects safety, access to opportunity, environmental responsibility, and economic vitality.

Purpose of the CSAC

CSAC acts as an advisory body to City staff. Its role is to:

  • Elevate Complete Streets concerns from the community
  • Discuss and recommend improvements to policies and programs
  • Provide guidance on project prioritization for equitable access
  • Support outreach and educational efforts
  • Advise staff on best practices and implementation

Recommendations are shared with Community Planning & Economic Development and Public Services staff to help guide projects and policy decisions.
