Work at the Polls

Elections in Kalamazoo are run by people from right here in our community like you! Serving as a poll worker is a great way to meet friends and neighbors, help our community vote, and earn money too.

The City of Kalamazoo employees between 150 and 300 people during an election and we are always looking for new poll workers. The technology used in election processes is always advancing, so people that are comfortable using computers and electronic equipment are especially helpful. Poll workers are paid a minimum of $16/hour for Election Day and training.

Poll workers are required to be registered voters in the State of Michigan. Additionally, you cannot be a challenger, candidate, member of a candidate's immediate family, or a member of the local Board of Canvassers. Anyone convicted of a felony or an election crime may not serve.
