Non-essential City of Kalamazoo offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Regular hours will resume on Monday, December 1. Join us at the Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 28!
We all have a role to play to keep our city clean, safe, and inviting! City ordinance requires property owners to maintain their properties, including picking up trash, litter, and debris. This includes if trash was illegally dumped onto a property (if this happens, the owner should also report it to Public Safety). Please let us know if you see a property that is not being kept clean.

Report a Trash or Junk on Private Property
An inspector will visit the property within three days to confirm the report. If confirmed, we'll let the property owner know their property is out of compliance and they will have 10 days to correct the violation. We'll reinspect the property after 10 days to confirm the issue has been resolved. If it still has not been addressed, we will arrange for the property to be cleaned up at the property owner's expense (this typically happens the following Thursday or Friday).
