Scheduled Boil Water Advisory: Winton, Royce, Miles, Lakeway, Kingston

The City of Kalamazoo is in the process of repairing the water infrastructure on Dorchester Avenue. This work is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, 2025, starting at approximately 8:00 a.m., at which time the water will be shut off. The work will result in a temporary loss of pressure and consequently, a precautionary boil water advisory is being issued in cooperation with the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department for all water intended for drinking or ingestion or any consumptive uses within the affected area, including:

  • Winton Avenue – Only the southwest and northeast corners of Winton Avenue and Moreland Street.
  • Royce Avenue – Only the northwest, southwest, and southeast corners of Royce Avenue and Moreland Street.
  • Miles Avenue – Only the northwest, northeast, and southeast corners of Miles Avenue and Moreland Street.
  • Lakeway Avenue – Only the northwest and northeast corners of Lakeway Avenue and Moreland Street.
  • Kingston Avenue- Only the southwest corner of Kingston Avenue and Moreland Street.

This advisory is precautionary only; there have not been any confirmed tests showing bacteria present in the water main at the location of the infrastructure repair. Initial sampling results will be available within 24 hours of its collection and the final set within 48 hours. It is expected that the advisory will be lifted within 72 hours (August 22). City of Kalamazoo employees may be tasked with obtaining samples directly from customers. Assistance with obtaining samples would be greatly appreciated.
