Step 3.Schedule an Inspection

After your registration is approved, we will follow up with you to schedule an inspection usually within a week. All rental properties in the city must be registered and certified. If no issues are found during your inspection, you will be issued a Certificate of Compliance and can begin to rent the property.

The most common issues we find during inspections are listed in the Housing Inspection Checklist. It's a great place to start to prepare your property for an inspection and tenants.

Step 4.Keep Your Registration Up to Date

Make sure your rental registration information is always up to date. We will send courtesy notices when you need to have your property reinspected and may need to contact you for other reasons, so please let us know if your mailing address, phone number, or email address change. You can submit the Rental Registration Form again to update a registered property whenever you need to.

Step 5.Schedule Inspections to Stay Certified

Your Certificate of Compliance is good for a certain period of time. Before it expires you will need to have your property reinspected. We will send you a reminder before your certificate expires. By scheduling timely inspections and maintaining your property within the housing code you can earn Certificates of Compliance for up to 52 months.
