The scope of work for this project shall consist of cape sealing of Burdick Street from Kilgore Rd. north to Millview Ave using a single chip seal and follow-on micro-surface seal per Section 504 & 505 of the Michigan Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Construction and the included provisions (Appendix D). This project shall also consist of fog sealing Burdick St. from Millview Ave to Stockbridge Ave & applying new pavement markings. Burdick St. seal limits are in listed in the bid documentation (Appendix C). Micro-surface seal shall be applied within five (5) working days following the chip seal.

Pavement markings will be paid for as a lump sum item. Pavement markings shall be replaced in-kind. Locations, layout, placement, and recording of the pavement markings will be the responsibility of the contractor. Pavement markings will be applied as waterborne for the line markings (e.g. 4” white, 6” white, 4” yellow, etc.) and for any legends and symbols (e.g. bike symbol, left turn, etc.).

The contract and work shall be carried out in conformance with the MDOT Standard Specifications for Construction, special provisions included in the contract documentation, and Ordinances of the City of Kalamazoo in effect on the date of invitation for bids.

All necessary traffic control, labor, materials, tools, equipment, and other items incidental to the work being performed shall be included in the Contractor’s unit price for this contract. Such items will not be bid or paid for separately but shall be included in the overall unit price.

The bidder shall furnish all labor, supervision, supplies, tools, equipment, and other means necessary or proper for performing and completing the work. The bidder shall be responsible for the cleaning up of the job site and shall repair or restore all structures and property that may be damaged or disturbed during performance of the work to the satisfaction of the Public Services Department for the City of Kalamazoo. Drainage structure covers shall be salvaged and reused if in usable condition; otherwise, they shall be replaced. Where needed, all traffic control used for such operations as defined by the MMUTCD will be the responsibility of the bidder.

The bidder shall have all work completed by July 30, 2022.
