The scope of work for this project shall consist of milling Kilgore Road to a depth of 2 inches and resurfacing with 4EML at 220#/SYD, curb repairs, sidewalk ramp and ADA upgrades, and structure rebuild and adjust to enable proper flow and levelness to the road. Full depth repair will be necessary as described in the plan documents and as marked out by the engineer. Work will be coordinated with City of Portage and City of Kalamazoo to ensure minimal impact to residents and businesses.

Work for the Kilgore Resurfacing Project shall be broken into the following phases:

1) Mobilization

2) Sidewalk Work

3) Resurfacing Preparatory Work

4) Resurfacing

5) Final Structure Adjustments

Phasing of work should be structured to minimize the time westbound traffic is detoured (see Maintenance of Traffic plan in Appendix C). All preparatory work shall be completed prior to westbound traffic being detoured. Once final paving and structure adjustments have been made and the concrete collars have been given sufficient time to cure, the roadway shall be reopened to two-way traffic in as short a time as possible.

All necessary traffic control, labor, materials, tools, equipment, and other items incidental to the work being performed shall be included in the Contractor’s unit price for this contract. Such items will not be bid or paid for separately but shall be included in the overall unit price.

The bidder shall furnish all labor, supervision, supplies, tools, equipment, and other means necessary or proper for performing and completing the work. The bidder shall be responsible for the cleaning up of the job site and shall repair or restore all structures and property that may be damaged or disturbed during performance of the work to the satisfaction of the Public Services Department for the City of Kalamazoo. Drainage structure covers shall be salvaged and reused if in usable condition; otherwise, they shall be replaced. Where needed, all traffic control used for such operations as defined by the MMUTCD will be the responsibility of the bidder.

The bidder shall have all work completed by August 26, 2022
