The Treasury Office at City Hall will be closed on Monday, June 5 until 1 p.m. for a departmental meeting. During the closure payments can be placed in the drop box at City Hall or made online or by phone.
The City of Kalamazoo’s Public Services Department will open its doors to the public with a series of open houses from May 22-25! Public Services facilities will be open for a behind-the-scenes look at the work of the Public Services department, with facility tours, vehicle and equipment displays, and discussions on water, wastewater, and public works.
Activities are planned at the Stockbridge Public Services Offices at 415 E Stockbridge Ave, the Kalamazoo Water Reclamation Plant (KWRP) at 1415 N Harrison St, and the Central Water Pumping Station at 215 W Stockbridge Ave. All activities start at 5:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. Signage and balloons will guide guests to events at each location.
All Things Water at 415 E Stockbridge: Staff will be on hand to lead a show-and-tell-style open house about water distribution and be available to answer questions and discuss water with attendees. Heavy Public Services vehicles will be on display in the parking lot.
All Things Wastewater at KWRP (1415 N Harrison): Staff will give a presentation about wastewater treatment in Kalamazoo before leading guests on a tour of the facility, explaining the various processes that clean wastewater before it can be safely returned to the environment. Heavy public safety vehicles will be on display in the parking lot.
All Things Public Works at 415 E Stockbridge: Staff will be on hand to lead a show-and-tell-style open house about Public Works topics, which includes things like streets, sidewalks, trees, and other public infrastructure. Heavy Public Services vehicles will be on display in the parking lot.
Groundwater and Water Production at the Central Pumping Station (215 W Stockbridge): Staff will give a presentation about the local watershed before leading a tour of the Central Pumping Station, which is one source of groundwater for our Public Water Supply System.
Food and refreshments will be provided at each event and guests can enter a drawing for a chance to win a rain barrel! Come join us to learn how the City of Kalamazoo designs, builds, and maintains our infrastructure!
