Both lanes of traffic are back open on Howard St. We are aware of the issue with the railroad crossing and are pressuring Amtrak to make the repair as quickly as possible (since the crossing is within the railroad's right-of-way, we cannot perform the work ourselves).
This project is primarily a resurfacing of Howard Street from Stadium Drive to W Michigan Avenue, but it includes a number of other elements as well:
Estimated construction cost is $724,400. A Federal grant will cover $473,600 and the remaining $248,400 will be covered by the City’s major streets fund. The project will begin shortly after WMU’s spring commencement with completion expected before the fall semester begins.
