Apply for a Social District Permit

Kalamazoo has two Social Districts: the Downtown Social District, which includes the Central Commons Refreshment Area, and the NCBDA Social District. Participating businesses can sell alcoholic beverages for customers to enjoy within designated Commons Areas.

Eligible licensed businesses need a Social District Permit to participate. The process requires approval from the City Commission and submission of an application and applicable fees to the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC). Once you receive final approval from the MLCC, you can order cups and other materials you need to participate.
