Alonzo Wilson

First elected to City Commission in 2023. Current term expires November 2027.

Alonzo was raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan since the age of 3. Upon graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School and receiving the Kalamazoo Promise scholarship,Alonzo earned a BS in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2013.

After spending several years in New York City, working as a Sr. Operations Analyst for Goldman Sachs, he decided to return home to Kalamazoo to plant roots and be closer to his family. Alonzo met his wife Taijah, also a Kalamazoo Promise scholar, back in high school and they remained close friends until they decided to marry in 2019. The couple shares two beautiful sons together and a home in Kalamazoo's Westnedge Hill neighborhood.

Alonzo now works for CSM Group as a Project Controls Specialist, managing budgets for commercial construction projects across Kalamazoo. He is also a member of the Shared Prosperity Kalamazoo Organizing Committee, which is responsible for leading initiatives to address the deeper systemic changes required to shift conditions for families and the community. In 2023,Alonzo obtained his Project Management Professional certification to further his commitment and expertise in servant leadership.
