Request an Official Recognition or Appearance

The Kalamazoo City Commission can officially recognize important dates, significant events, or raise awareness about issues or causes that are consistent with our community's values. You can request a proclamation, appearance by an elected official, lighting of City Hall, or a wedding ceremony. Please submit your request at least two weeks ahead of the requested date(s).

Step 1.Prepare Your Information

As part of your application we will ask for supporting documents. We'll also want to know how your cause or event is aligned with the goals and vision of our community. Make sure you are ready to upload this before applying. 

Step 2.Submit an Application

Complete the online application to request an official appearance or recognition by the City of Kalamazoo or city officials. Please submit your application at least two weeks ahead of your requested date.

Step 3.Confirmation and Scheduling

A member of our team will review your request and follow up with you regarding availability. Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and subject to the schedule and available of the officials requested. 

In Person

Visit City Hall

You can request an appearance or recognition in person at City Hall. Visit the City Manager's Office on the second floor and a member of our staff will be happy to discuss your request and help arrange it with you.
