City and Partners Launch One-Stop Hub for Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs in Kalamazoo now have access to free, in-person business support each week at Can-Do Kalamazoo (519 S Park Street), thanks to a partnership between the City of Kalamazoo, SCORE, the Michigan Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and the Kalamazoo Social Equity Cannabis Chamber. 

This shared space offers a collaborative, welcoming environment where business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs can get free help with business planning, licensing, funding strategies, marketing, and more. Each partner brings unique expertise, providing personalized, one-on-one guidance tailored to Kalamazoo’s diverse business community. 

Weekly Office Hours at 519 S Park Street Include: 

  • Tuesdays & Wednesdays
    • 9 AM – 12 PM: SCORE business mentoring
    • 1 PM – 5 PM: City of Kalamazoo Economic Development team
  • Thursdays
    • 9 AM – 12 PM: Michigan SBDC consulting
    • 1 PM – 5 PM: City of Kalamazoo Economic Development team
  • First Friday of Each Month
    • 10 AM – 5 PM: Kalamazoo Social Equity Cannabis Chamber

    What Support Is Available? 

  • City of Kalamazoo Economic Development: Guidance on licensing, permitting, zoning, access to grants and capital, and inclusive business development.
  • Michigan SBDC: Business planning, financial projections, digital marketing, cybersecurity, and more.
  • SCORE: Confidential mentoring from experienced business professionals, plus workshops and online tools.
  • Kalamazoo Social Equity Cannabis Chamber: Mentorship, licensing guidance, and peer support for minority-owned and equity-focused businesses, particularly in the cannabis industry.

This partnership reflects a broader commitment to economic inclusion and small business success across Kalamazoo. By working together in one central location, these organizations are helping entrepreneurs move forward with confidence and reminding them they don’t have to do it alone.
