Notice of Public Hearing on 2025 CWSRF Project Plan

The City of Kalamazoo will hold a public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund (CWSRF) Project Plan to receive comments from interested persons. The plan includes several improvements to the Kalamazoo Water Reclamation Plant including new safety handrails, secondary clarifier improvements, telemetry and SCADA updates, arc flash mitigation, biosolids scrubbers, biosolids bunker improvements, and hydrogen peroxide injection.
The hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the following location:

The CWSRF Program is administered by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy with the purpose of protecting and improving water quality. The proposed project will address structural, electrical, and capacity issues in the existing wastewater collection system and improve system operations by replacing existing infrastructure and equipment.
The estimated cost to users for the proposed project will be: $18,500,000.
As all the proposed projects occur at the Kalamazoo Water Reclamation Plant, there are no anticipated public impacts of these improvements. Appropriate countermeasures will be implemented to prevent soil erosion and sedimentation from the project sites.
