City crews are continuing to collect branches and debris that fell during the February ice storm. If your material is not collected by March 31, please call 311 to report it.
Kalamazoo's water is pumped form aquifers underground. This helps protect it from surface pollution, but also makes it naturally high in minerals like iron. These minerals can get stirred up as we work to improve the water system or other infrastructure. When this happens, it can temporarily cause your water to appear rusty or discolored.
While this is not dangerous, we understand that it is concerning to customers. If you are experiencing this issue at your home or business, flushing your interior plumbing can help your water run clear again. Our Public Services team also flushes the entire water system through hydrants twice per year as part of regular maintenance.
