Experience Downtown: Walking Audit

What’s it like to experience downtown Kalamazoo in everyday situations?

This interactive walking audit invites you to step into real-life scenarios and explore how downtown works for different people. Whether it’s navigating with kids, meeting friends, or running errands, you’ll be given a scenario and asked to complete a short trip through downtown.

What You'll Do

Participants will take part in a guided, self-paced walking activity (approximately 60 minutes total) that includes a 15–30 minute route.

You’ll:

• Plan your route using a downtown map
• Navigate on your own (no GPS guidance once you begin)
• Visit key destinations based on your assigned scenario
• Take photos of challenges and opportunities
• Share feedback using a simple activity form

Scenarios are designed to reflect real downtown experiences, like:

• A trip with young children
• Hosting friends from out of town
• Holiday shopping at local businesses

After your walk, join us at Caffè Casa to connect with other participants, share your experience, and enjoy free coffee and snacks.
