Water & Sewer Service

Notice for Parchment Customers

We would like to inform you that an error occurred in our manual billing update process, resulting in some accounts being incorrectly charged penalties. We have since reviewed the penalties recently applied to Parchment accounts and have identified a total of 413 accounts that received penalties in error.

As of April 9, 2026, all affected accounts have been updated to reflect a reversal of these charges, or a credit has been applied if the charges were already paid. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 269.337.8000.

Our Public Water Supply System is the second largest groundwater-based drinking water system in Michigan. It's also ranked one of the lowest for water rates out of the state's largest systems. Our system has a Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) approved Wellhead Protection Program, and it's been recognized with the Exemplary Source Water Protection Award by the American Water Works Association. Kalamazoo has also been designated a Groundwater Guardian Community every year since 1998. We provide 20 million gallons of water on an average day to nearly 200,000 customers in 11 jurisdictions. The system includes approximately 839 miles of water main and roughly 7,000 hydrants.

View rules and regulations for Kalamazoo's utility systems in Chapter 28 (Sewer Use & Pretreatment) and Chapter 38 (Water) of the Code of Ordinances.
